One in five households rely on emergency tradesmen over Christmas and holidays
December 2007One in five British households is forced to call-out emergency trade services during the holidays and weekends according to a poll released today by Budget Van Insurance. The majority of call-outs are for plumbers (46%) followed by central heating engineers (13%) and locksmiths (10%).
On top of festive spending, a third of respondents who have had to call-out the specialists have paid between £50-£100 for the service excluding any parts needed to complete the job. While over ten per cent of respondents (23%) have paid between £150-£250 for services excluding parts.

“Householders should take all preventative measures to avoid any domestic disasters over Christmas– whether this is storing spare keys in a secure place, having your boiler serviced and keeping your home warm enough to avoid burst pipes.
“With the cold-snap likely to continue over the coming weeks, we are urging people to ensure that their houses are in order to avoid any costly incidents.“
